ER and Rescue Me alum Maura Tierney has left the cast of NBC’s upcoming series Parenthood to focus on her treatment for breast cancer. Production of the series, originally scheduled for a fall debut, had been put on hold to accommodate Tierney’s diagnosis. The puck drops on the 2011 NHL season on Thursday, Oct. 6, beginning at 7pm ET with a doubleheader on Versus. First up, the Stanley Cup champion Boston Bruins welcome the Eastern Conference rival Philadelphia Flyers. The Bruins kept their core together, while the Flyers revamped their team in the offseason to beef up their defense and goaltending. The second game has the Pittsburgh Penguins visiting last season’s Western Conference champion Vancouver Canucks.
