Sharknado wins 2013 Viewers Voice Award for the “Most Outrageous Syfy Movie Title,” in Channel Guide’s annual reader poll.

Syfy’s Sharknado not only devoured the competition but also swallowed up social media the night of its premiere. The made-for-TV monster-disaster movie centered around a series of cyclones that hurled sharks into the Los Angeles area. The film was the most-discussed program of the night on Twitter, generating over 300,000 tweets — at its peak it was 80 tweets per second. Now there are T-shirts — “I Survived Sharknado” — and talks of a sequel.

Most Outrageous Syfy Movie Title — Winner: Sharknado

Sharknado 59.7%
Chupacabra vs. the Alamo 17.1%
12 Disasters of Christmas 11.8%
Independence Day-Saster 8.3%
Battledogs 3.1%

Percentages may not total 100 due to rounding.
