MTV, VH1, CMT and TeenNick will exclusively premiere Taylor Swift’s “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” music video to celebrate the one-week countdown to the 2012 Video Music Awards, MTV announced today. Swift had been previously announced as a performer at this year’s VMAs. Her video will premiere this Thursday, Aug. 30, at 7:49pm ET.
Swift will take to the airwaves live at 7:49pm ET on MTV, CMT and TeenNick to premiere the video on the special MTV First: Taylor Swift, where the singer will personally introduce the music video for “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.” The song is currently in the No. 1 position on Billboard’s all-genre Hot 100 Songs chart, and with over 623,000 downloads in its first week, shattered the previously held singles sales record by a female artist. It also became the second-largest download ever, overall.
During MTV First: Taylor Swift, Swift will sit down with MTV News’ Sway Calloway to introduce the video. Immediately following, Swift will stay for an additional 15-minute interview on MTV.com, where she will talk about her album, upcoming VMA (Sept. 6) and VH1 Storytellers (Nov. 11)appearances and more. At 8pm ET, the video for “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” will make its digital debut on MTV.com, VH1.com and CMT.com.
Earlier on Aug. 30, CMT will go “Red” at 7:30pm ET/PT for a half-hour special with Taylor Swift as the star joins hosts Katie Cook, Evan Farmer and fans in-studio to discuss her newest single. And if you miss the “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” video tonight, don’t worry — CMT plans to air it every hour during music hours throughout Labor Day weekend.
The next morning, on Aug. 31, VH1’s Big Morning Buzz Live will highlight the video premiere. The video will debut on VH1’s Top 20 Countdown on Sept. 1.
Swift worked with director Declan Whitebloom on the video for “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.” He also directed her videos for “Mean” and “Ours.” This video was shot in one continuous take, with one camera, and no edits.
