History to present “Targeting bin Laden”

With the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks nearly upon us, a lot of recent history is being revisited. The slaying of Osama bin Laden after a rigorous 10-year search brought the events of 9/11 full circle, reopening old wounds for some, bringing closure to others and leading many Americans to wonder: How did we get bin Laden?

Sept. 6, History will present Targeting bin Laden, a two-hour special exploring the effort it took over two administrations to bring the goal of the CIA’s most wanted within reach and how the mission was carried out. Using historical footage, photos and dramatizations, the special will illustrate this pivotal moment in the war on terror, as well as discuss the ramifications that have and may yet follow.

Insight will be offered in exclusive interviews with President Barack Obama, as well as National Security Advisor Tom Donilon, White House Chief Counter-Terrorism Advisor John O. Brennon, former CIA Director Gen. Michael Vincent Hayden, members of Congress and others.
