2011 French Open tennis finals June 4-5 on NBC

The French Open is down to the finals, with Australian Open runner-up Li Na of China taking on defending French Open champ Francesca Schiavone of Italy in the women’s match Saturday, June 4, at 9am ET on NBC. In the men’s final, Rafael Nadal continues his dominance on clay, defeating Andy Murray to reach his sixth final in seven years. Nadal will face the winner of the Roger Federer-Novak Djokovic semifinal match (taking place Friday at 11am ET on NBC), with the final scheduled for Sunday, June 5, at 9am ET. NEW YORK – June 2, 2011 – A star-studded Men’s field heads into the final weekend at the French Open. Defending champion Rafael Nadal has won five French Open titles, and with a win this year will tie Bjorn Borg with the most men’s French Open championships in the Open era. Novak Djokovic’s unbeaten streak to start the year stands at 41 matches and with his first-ever French Open title will surpass John McEnroe’s best start to a year with 42 consecutive matches won in 1984.

NBC Sports presents live coverage of the French Open men’s finals on Sunday beginning at 9 a.m. ET. Nadal, who has won five of the last six French Opens must first get by No. 4 seed Andy Murray in one semifinal round tomorrow. Djokovic can tie McEnroe’s record with a win against No. 3 seed Roger Federer in the other semifinal.

NBC Sports will provide live coverage of the Federer-Djokovic men’s semifinals to the Eastern Time zone tomorrow beginning at 11 a.m. (all time zones) with live streaming coast-to-coast on NBCSports.com.

On the women’s side, defending champion Francesca Schiavone, the No. 5 seed, takes on No. 6 seed Li Na who is seeking to become the first Chinese tennis player to win a Grand Slam event. Live coverage of the women’s final begins Saturday at 9 a.m. ET.

Host Ted Robinson anchors NBC’s coverage from Roland Garros, joined by analysts John McEnroe and Mary Carillo.
