Summer Glau, Josh Friedman talk “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”

With all the attention over Christian Bale’s tapestry of profanity woven on the set of Terminator: Salvation, let us not forget that other bit of cybernetic business brewing over on FOX. Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles moves to a new night next Friday (Feb. 13), where it will be paired with Joss Whedon’s highly anticipated new series Dollhouse.

Summer Glau, who plays the role of Cameron — a Terminator sent back in time to protect John Connor from other sinister robots who want him dead before he can lead a human resistance in a postapocalyptic world — and creator Josh Friedman answered questions recently on the direction of the series, and their hopes for their new time slot.

On the advantages of moving to Friday nights:

Josh Friedman: “We were getting our asses kicked on Monday nights, so I’m happy to move to Fridays.”

Summer Glau: “I don’t think we were getting our asses kicked, I just think there was a lot of people on Monday.”

JF: “Yes, it was crowded, it was crowded on Monday and I think that Friday gives FOX an opportunity to promote us together with Dollhouse, which seems like a pretty exciting show. You know it’s an opportunity for a fresh start and we have a lot of great episodes in the back nine. So I don’t think anyone really knows what to expect in this environment. So I feel good about it.”

On the events of this season:

SG: “I just got a hold of our season finale script and I am shocked. I’m not going to give it away, but I’m excited and I’m a little bit sad, but more excited and just really proud of what Josh has done. I mean it’s the most beautiful character and I love playing her and she’s done above and beyond what I ever thought I could do in two seasons on TV and that’s been a huge blessing for me. But Cameron is so complicated I couldn’t possibly imagine this storyline. I’m glad that Josh is the writer and I’m the actress. But I think everybody is going to be shocked at what happens at the end of this season — it’s not the ending.”
