Tonight we answer the question we’ve been building up to all season – who won RuPaul’s Drag Race season 8? Now normally I would give you a full recap before posting, but since we had no advanced screener, I’m writing on the fly. Not my best look, like day drag. So tonight you’ll get the info you want. Be sure to come back to this post sometime tomorrow for the fully fleshed out recap with more pictures. We get the original song lip synchs and final interviews with each of our finalists. Bob gets a personal message from the one … Continue reading
The only real purpose for RuPaul’s Drag Race season 8 episode 9 to exist is to answer one question. Who made it to the top 3? There’s no real suspense as to what’s going to happen in the episode. Michelle Visage will tell the girls about the music video challenge. Ok, so that one was different. This year Ru let the girls know. The girls will have to showcase different looks for different parts of the video. There will be at least one awkward element. The girls will talk about how much they’ve learned over the season. The girls will … Continue reading
RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 8 episode 8 is the ball episode! It’s 90 minutes! The guest judges are David & Amy Sedaris! Aaahhh! It’s also time for the Everybody Loves Puppets mini-challenge! Yay! But first – purse first! After, of course, a brief shady recap of Thorgy’s exit in the last episode. It’s time to dive into the glory hole (Ru doesn’t say it this year, for some reason) and pick out a puppet. Kim Chi gets Chi Chi Chi Chi gets Bob Derrick Barry gets Naomi Smalls Naomi gets Derrick Barry Bob gets Kim Chi Naomi and Derrick are … Continue reading
RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 8 episode 7 begins by letting us know a teeny-tiny bit of T. Apparently Derrick talked for a LOOONNNNNGGG time during the last mainstage judging. Thorgy thinks Chi Chi wasted everyone’s time yesterday. How she did that, I have no idea. She may have wasted her own time, but that’s on her. Let it go, Thorgy. The mini-challenge has the queens placing the expanded pit crew into the top or bottom of a giant bunk bed. I would hope that if you’re watching Drag Race & reading this blog, I don’t have to explain it to … Continue reading
RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 8 Episode 6 starts with a bit of Acid Betty shade. It seems very forced because if you watched Untucked you know that Acid Betty wasn’t that bitter. And you guys! Naomi Smalls puts a lot of effort into her looks! Does she have to wear a turtleneck now? Ru’s in the workroom, and he introduces Marc Snetiker, an Entertainment Weekly writer. He says the EW audience loves Drag Race recaps. Huh? Wonder who else does that? And I don’t see many recaps from this season on the EW.com web site. Sure isn’t linked off the … Continue reading
It’s time for RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 8 Snatch Game! But before we get into the characters & what everyone’s going to do, we need to have a Derrick vs Bob snipefest. Snippy, snippy, snarky, snarky, they don’t like each other. We won’t address this again for the rest of the episode. If anyone was hoping for an Untucked tie-in, all we get is Chi Chi looking at the jumpsuit Naysha left her at the end of the last episode. That’s it. No mention of Naysha at all. I mean, I know Naysha already got her swan song off the … Continue reading
RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 8 Episode 4 begins with a dissertation on Derrick Barry. Who is Derrick Barry? What motivates Derrick Barry? Does Derrick Barry have a soul? Is that different from having soul? Does Derrick Barry know what soul is? (Answer key: Don’t know; Unknown; Probably not; Confused; Nope.) This week’s guest judges are Lucian Piane, Chris Stein & Debbie Harry from Blondie! Purse first! Bob’s decided that the purse he made in episode 1 shall now be featured in every episode going forward. So it’s purse first into the workroom! We apparently haven’t had interesting conversations waiting for … Continue reading
When we last watched Drag Race, we were left with a double elimination and a mysterious phone call to someone from RuPaul. So of course RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 8 episode 3 begins with much speculation. Victoria PorkChop Parker? Shangela? WHO DID RU CALL!?!? Sensitive, shady mentor Ru enters the workroom, still rocking the hats. Oh, and did you know his suit was from Klein Epstein Parker and they’re made to order? Wow! I had no idea. It sounds so casual & in the midst of conversation rather than actually advertising a product. Wink. But before we answer the question … Continue reading
Sorry I’m tardy to the party people. Let’s get started! RuPaul’s Drag Race season 8 episode 2 brings the reality – someone’s going home. Every time. Probably. Unless they do that “you’re both safe” crap again. Eye roll. Jamal Sims, Lucian Piane, Ester Dean are this week’s extra special guests. Did they make a bigger judges table for this? Mini-challenge: a Latin dance-off in quick drag. AB Soto is the guest judge for this mini-challenge, featuring a song he created with RuPaul. I’m sure it’s available on iTunes. Cynthia Lee Fontaine and Chi Chi DeVayne are the “winners” & get … Continue reading
Welcome, welcome everyone to the RuPaul’s Drag Race season 8 premiere! YAAAYYY! These premiere episodes are always your intro to this newest batch of queens. And this being the 100th episode, we get a quick recap of all the eleganza we’ve witnessed over the last 99 episodes. We get the typical parade of nations of the season 8 queens coming through the door. Some highlights for me were Acid Betty & Bob the Drag Queen. Cynthia Lee Fontaine is like the Puerto Rican Tammie Brown and I love it. Robbie Turner has some thoughts for Laila McQueen (below), who decided … Continue reading
