For President Obama’s Last White House Correspondents Dinner, Let’s Look Back at His Epic Trump Takedown From 2011

The 2016 White House Correspondents dinner, taking place April 30 (you can catch live coverage, including arrivals, beginning at 6pm ET on C-SPAN) represents President Barack Obama’s eighth and final appearance at the dinner. During the course of the past eight years, a number of hilarious headliners have hosted the event, from Wanda Sykes and Conan O’Brien to Seth Meyers and Jimmy Kimmel, with Comedy Central’s Larry Wilmore hosting this year. But many of them have been overshadowed in entertainment value by the president himself, whose charisma and comic timing have made for some memorable moments at the dinner, and […]

Watch: President Obama and Cecily Strong speak at 2015 White House Correspondents’ Dinner

President Barack Obama and Saturday Night Live cast member Cecily Strong offered up some nice zingers at last night’s 2015 White House Correspondents’ Dinner (WHCD). The annual fete gathers beltway reporters and the president, along with a celebrity host (Cecily Strong this year), to party and listen to the speakers roast themselves and others. President Obama, keeping with the current thinking that he — now in his second and final term — has “no fucks left to give,” demonstrated that even more so last night with his comments, which were aimed at just about everyone. As he usually has done […]

Link TV, C-SPAN, Free Speech TV to air third party presidential debate Oct. 23

Updated Oct. 23, 2012, 7:48pm CT Last night, the final presidential debate between President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Gov. Mitt Romney aired. Over the course of the three debates these two men had, along with the one vice-presidential debate between Vice President Joe Biden and Congressman Paul Ryan, some voters were disappointed that the other presidential candidates whose names will appear on a number of ballots on Nov. 6 were not involved in any of the nationally televised debates. These third party candidates and their supporters have expressed frustration with the two-party, Republican and Democratic, domination of political discourse […]

Where to watch the 2012 Democratic National Convention

With the Republican National Convention winding down, it’s the Democrats’ turn to gather, with the Democratic National Convention taking place in Charlotte Sept. 4-6. There they are expected to formally nominate President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden for a second term as President and Vice President of the United States. While there may be less drama than what transpired at the RNC (which had the threat of a hurricane, outbursts from Ron Paul supporters, etc.) you just never can tell what may happen. Several news outlets will be on hand to cover what does take place, and here’s […]

Where to watch (and who to watch for): White House Correspondents’ Dinner 2012

Jimmy Kimmel is headlining the annual White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner this Saturday, the 98th installment of the venerable event that is traditionally attended by the President and First Lady, as well as many other senior government officials and members of the press corps. Proceeds from the dinner go toward scholarships and awards aimed at supporting aspiring journalists and recognizing excellence in the profession. Last year’s event was notably headlined by Saturday Night Live‘s Seth Meyers, and also featured President Obama getting in a few tweaks at Donald Trump, who at the time was mulling a presidential run while making […]

White House dinner becomes Trump roast

If timing was Donald Trump’s forte, he most likely would have waited until after the White House Correspondents’ Dinner this past weekend to launch his one-man crusade against President Obama. But because it apparently isn’t, he ended up being the butt of most of the jokes usually reserved for political figures. The president, fellow politicians, members of the media and celebrities gather every year to roast Washington’s elite (C-SPAN provides TV coverage), and members of both parties always take their share of jabs. But Trump himself — who for some odd reason accepted an invitation to attend this year’s affair […]
