5 Questions With Rob Corddry Of Ballers, Children’s Hospital

“You’re no one until you have enemies” is the tagline for Season 2 of HBO’s Ballers, which debuts Sunday. And this time, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Spencer Strasmore and Rob Corddry’s Joe Krutel have a big one to deal with in the form of Andre, played by veteran actor Andy Garcia. “He plays the biggest sports financial manager in Miami,” explains Corddry. “Spencer has a personal beef with him and wants to take him down. That’s basically the arc of the whole season. [But] I always had an admiration for this guy, no matter how sleazy he is. It becomes […]

Fourth and final season of “The Boondocks” coming to Adult Swim

Still enjoying re-airs of The Boondocks on Saturday nights, I had been wondering if the animated series was still in production, and according to a release today from Adult Swim, it is. The fourth and final season of The Boondocks will begin April 21 at 10:30pm ET/PT. However, this season is going to be produced without the involvement of Aaron McGruder — who created the series and the original comic strip on which it is based. According to the release, a mutually agreeable production schedule could not be determined. I hope McGruder’s lack of involvement does not diminish what has […]

Cartoon Network brings “Black Dynamite” animated series to Adult Swim

Cartoon Network’s late-night Adult Swim block goes into lulls where it seems to bide its time between cool new ‘toons, over-hyped one-season wonders and new seasons of its stately franchises (still waiting on Season 5 of One of the Best Things on TV, The Venture Brothers), often filling the gap with live-action Dadaist crap by some guy who knows the Tim & Eric Awesome Show yayhoos. I’m not sure what category Black Dynamite, the animated adaptation of Scott Sanders, Michael Jai White and Byron Minns’ over-the-top 2009 blaxploitation-spoofing feature film, will fit into just yet — other than it is […]

“Hey, Apple!” The Annoying Orange is coming to Cartoon Network

What started out as just another web video for Dane Boedigheimer back in 2009 has built him a mini-empire, which will soon include a half-hour series on Cartoon Network. The Annoying Orange, which debuts at 8:30pm June 11, will showcase the verbose fruit who delights in tormenting his fellow foodstuffs with his intrusive high-pitched greetings like “Hey! Hey, Apple!” It’s all profoundly silly, and Boedigheimer — better known by his online handle Daneboe — knows it. Expanding the quickie shorts into episodes that will consist of two 11-minute segments has been a surprisingly smooth process so far, he says. It […]

Adult Swim To Air British “Office”

Adult Swim today announced it has acquired the legendary hit BBC comedy, The Office, from BBC Worldwide. Both seasons of the two-time Golden Globe Award-winning series will begin airing on Adult Swim this summer. Adult Swim will also air The Office Christmas special. Created, written and directed by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, The Office is about the day-to-day lives of office employees in the Slough, Berkshire branch of the fictitious Wernham Hogg Paper Company. The main character in the series, David Brent, as played by Gervais, is now firmly established as one of the great creations of comedy — […]

Droided Up: Seth Green And Matt Senreich Get Geeked About "Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II"

Posted by Ryan “I still can’t believe any of this is happening in my real life,” says Seth Green. “I am so amazed that we’re getting to do this. I just don’t want anybody to wake me up.” For Star Wars fanatics Green and Robot Chicken co-creator Matt Senreich, doing a Star Wars-themed episode of their stop-motion animated comedy was, to quote Luke Skywalker, “like something out of a dream.” So getting a sequel greenlighted must’ve felt like a Jedi mind trick. But it’s no Bantha poodoo: Adult Swim presents Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II on Nov. 16 at […]
