VOD Review: “Watchmen: Tales Of The Black Freighter” & “Under the Hood”

By Stacey Harrison For the uninitiated, it might be tough to see how a grisly animated tale of survival at sea would tie into a deconstructionist superhero epic like Watchmen. Well, unless you’ve read the source material, the new Watchmen: Tales of the Black Freighter probably isn’t going to make it any clearer. There are very few references to the story detailed in the blockbuster movie, which presents a view of what 1985 might have looked like if costumed vigilantes had been a part of our real world. We do get a dark Smiley Face reflected in the water, along […]

David Goodman Talks About The Upcoming “Star Trek: The Next Generation” Cast Reunion On “Family Guy”

by Sarah Yesterday, showrunner and executive producer David Goodman held a conference call to talk about next week’s episode of Family Guy, called “Not All Dogs Go to Heaven,” which features a reunion of the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation. One of the big thrills for Goodman is that he actually gets to be in the episode as a convention-goer who not only gets a scene with Patrick Stewart and Jonathan Frakes, but who also gets into an age-old Trekkie argument about the questionable canon fidelity of the episode “Relics.”

“High School Reunion”: The Secret Is Revealed

Well, they’ve been hinting at it for weeks, but someone is finally going to have a shocking secret spilled in front of their old high-school crowd in this week’s episode, airing tonight at 10 ET on TV Land. The ads seem to be pointing to some big fallout between exes Tom (The Jock) and Kara (The Homecoming Queen), but while they do have a heartfelt tete-a-tete that leads to tears being shed, they’re just the warm-up act. Keep an eye out on Jessica (The Ugly Duckling) and Maricella (The Outcast) for some real fireworks, keeping in mind that hell hath […]

Top Model Audition Adventures

by Dizzy Miss Lizzy Well, you all did it. I can scarcely believe it, but you rose to the comment challenge. You kept up your end of the bargain, so I must keep mine. But I will post regular Twitter updates @ChannelGuideAV. And you can check back right here Wednesday night for the full recap. Pre-Audition Jitters: I’m debating whether I should showcase my fashion ineptitudes in a […]

“One Tree Hill”: The Slippery Slope NEVER ENDS 17

by haro1d Well, a LOT happened on last night’s “One Tree Hill” — definitely not a filler episode. The Sims 3 synergy was a bust, for the most part — other than Dan Scott’s entering the hospital at the beginning, Sim Tree Hill was limited to Jamie’s purported simulation on his laptop, mostly seen at the end of the show. But take a deep breath, as otherwise, there’s a lot to cover: Dan enters the hospital for his heart transplant at the same time that Lucas and Peyton show up. Lucas stops and eyes Dan cynically, and Dan says, “I’m […]

Getting “Lost”: He’s Our You Preview

Two things strike us when looking at the information ABC has provided regarding this week’s episode, “He’s Our You.” First, when did Lost become Little Archie? We’ve already seen young Charlotte and young Ben, now we get young Sayid? [And glancing ahead at press releases for future episodes, there’s more where that came from.] Second, how did it take so long for the writers to find a role for William Sanderson, one of the great character actors of our generation? Is it too much to hope that his character, Oldham, will have a brother Darryl and another brother Darryl? Probably, […]
