Filmmaker Erin Lee Carr’s second documentary for HBO Films chronicles the strange case of Missouri mother Dee Dee Blancharde, who convinced her perfectly healthy daughter Gypsy Rose that she was mentally and physically challenged, keeping the girl medicated and wheelchair-bound in their home while reaping goodwill and charity for their plight. But Gypsy grew up and discovered the internet, eventually forming an online relationship with an older suitor, Nicholas Godejohn, whom she convinced to come help save her from her circumstance — one of the most horrific examples of Munchausen syndrome by proxy ever documented. And when Dee Dee was found stabbed to death in June 2015, Godejohn and Gypsy Rose were charged with the crime.

As the toddler’s condition continues to deteriorate, suspicion turns from Karly’s father to her mother’s boyfriend, but only after it’s too late.

Pop superstar Prince ascended to (one presumes) purple heaven one year ago and is now the latest subject of Reelz’s series Autopsy: The Last Hours Of…, which will explore the possibilities of why the cryptic one’s life was cut short, resulting in his passing at age 57. In this week’s installment, Prince’s appears as a “fit and health-conscious person,” says series consultant and medical examiner Dr. Michael Hunter, “but we’ll also analyze his medical history to uncover possible contributing factors in his untimely death.” With Prince’s demise ruled an accidental overdose of the pain med fentanyl, Autopsy will explore its larger impact.
