Nickelodeon’s Legends of the Hidden Temple Gets An Airdate

Legends of the Hidden Temple Nickelodeon

A popular kids gameshow that combined historical trivia with physical challenges gets a modern revamp in an upcoming Nickelodeon TV movie. And Nickelodeon has announced that Legends of the Hidden Temple, inspired by the mid-’90’s gameshow of the same name, will premiere Thanksgiving weekend on Saturday, Nov. 26 at 8pm ET/PT

In this highly anticipated action-adventure film, Isabela Moner, Colin Critchley and Jet Jurgensmeyer star as three siblings who break away from a boring jungle tour and find themselves in a high-stakes obstacle course that they must complete in order to survive.

Dee Bradley Baker reprises his role as the voice of Olmec, the gameshow’s colossal, talking head statue, and the show’s original host, Kirk Fogg, will also appear as what else? A host.

The film premiered a trailer at San Diego ComicCon; check it out!

I loved this game show as a kid and am thrilled to see that the flick finds a way to incorporate some of my favorite aspects of the ’90’s gameshow — especially The Shrine of the Silver Monkey, which always seemed to flummox the contestants. I spent many an afternoon screaming at my TV and the contestants who turned the pieces the wrong way, much to my frustration … and glee.
