The U.S. advanced to the finals in the equestrian team show jumping competition yesterday thanks to some outstanding performances. The four-member team consisting of Kent Farrington, Lucy Davis, McLain Ward and Beezie Madden are currently in a four-way tie for first place with Brazil, Netherlands and Germany, as they advance to the team finals this morning.

First-time Olympian Kent Farrington (pictured) had two clear rounds for Team USA on his 14-year-old gelding Voyeur.  This is McLain Ward’s fourth Olympics, he already holds two gold medals from Athens and Beijing. Beezie Madden is Team USA’s eldest member competing in the Rio Games, she is a four-time Olympian and has won gold medals in Athens and Beijing, and a bronze medal for individual jumping in Beijing. Davis competed in the London Olympic trials and placed 10th, but only the top 5 qualifiers advance to compete in the Games. Farrington, Davis and Ward all jumped clear rounds.

Team jumping finals and individual jumping qualifications begin at 9am ET today. Individual jumping finals will take place on Friday, Aug. 19. To find out what Olympic events are available to stream go to: http://www.nbcolympics.com/video
