Tyrant, the saga about the political and familial turmoil in the fictional Middle Eastern nation of Abbudin, returns for a third season, as Barry (Adam Rayner) must now lead the divided country into an uncertain future after the shooting of his brother Jamal (Ashraf Barhom), whose fate is unknown. In the Season 3 premiere “Spring” (Wednesday, July 6, at 10pm ET/PT), Barry steps forward as interim president and sets the stage for democratic elections. Daliyah (Melia Kreiling) takes a leading role in the nation, and army leaders overstep their bounds in trying to secure peace.
Fresh off his role in The Good Wife, Chris Noth joins the Tyrant cast as an American military general with a complex backstory and lots of emotional baggage who comes to Abbudin to assist Barry in establishing a transitional government. Also signed up for Season 3 is Annet Mahendru (The Americans), who plays the wife of a powerful sheik from the province of Ma’an, which was once target of a chemical weapons attack by Abbudin’s military.
