Mr. Robot Special Airing on USA Network Ahead of Season 2

"Mr. Robot Decoded" Will Preview New Season and Discuss Real-World Hackers

Ahead of Mr. Robot‘s Season 2 premiere on July 13, USA Network will be airing a one-hour special called Mr. Robot Decoded (if you literally want to get technical, the special’s title is officially Mr. Robot_dec0d3d.doc, staying true to the hacker lingo that each of the series’ episode titles is stylized with).

According to USA, the special will look at the dramatic events from Season 1, and offer some details about what’s to come in Season 2. When we last left the hacker heroes (or antiheroes?) of the acclaimed, Golden Globe- and Peabody Award-winning show, they had successfully pulled off the Evil Corp hack, throwing the world into chaos. Elliot (Rami Malek) had realized that he, in fact, was Mr. Robot, for a while unknowingly taking on the persona of his late father (Christian Slater), and that Darlene (Carly Chaikin) is his sister, among other drama.

Commentary and interviews with series creator Sam Esmail, and stars Malek, Slater, Chaikin and Portia Doubleday will be featured.

Along with that, high-profile experts, writers, journalists and filmmakers will discuss and try to answer the question: Can hackers change the world? And should they?

Interviewees on this topic include hacker Jeff Moss (aka “The Dark Tangent”); actor Zachary Levi; writer/Mr. Robot technical consultant Kor Adana; security expert Ryan Kazanciyan; Flashpoint chief scientist Lance James; author Fred Kaplan; network security expert Peiter C. Zatko; and more.

Mr. Robot Decoded (officially Mr. Robot_dec0d3d.doc) premieres June 20 at 11:05pm ET on USA Network (immediately following WWE Raw).

UPDATE 6/21/16: The Mr. Robot special will re-air on Syfy July 1 at 1am ET (late-night), July 8 at 6am ET and July 10 at 12:30am ET (late-night).
