On Monday, Feb. 15, stars from one of my favorite TV shows ever are getting together for a morning of mirth and memories on Hallmark’s daily talk and lifestyle program, Home and Family. Show hosts Mark Steines and Cristina Ferrare welcome the stars of The Facts of Life — actresses Charlotte Rae, Lisa Whelchel, Kim Fields, and Geri Jewell — and have a few surprises up their sleeves (Hint: Clooney! Bridges!)
After catching us up on all of the goings on in their lives, the gang spends the morning having tons of fun with the entire H&F family; Lisa cooks a delicious Mexican cornbread; decorator Ken Wingard and Kim make DIY blinged roller skates; Hollywood beauty specialist Kym Douglas and Lisa show you how to achieve her character Blair’s fabulous hair. Then it’s a prep school inspired fashion show from lifestyle expert Debbie Matenopoulos and men’s fashion expert Lawrence Zarian; DIY expert Tanya Memme shows you how to make a personalized DIY diary; and singer Gloria Loring performs The Facts of Life theme song. And of course you know that right now, I am singing said theme song!
I just can’t wait … I’m going to share two of the reunion’s special surprises; they’re too exciting and sweet not to share!!
Before he became an Oscar-winner and one of the sexiest movie stars in the world, before he gave us palpitations on ER, and even before he melted our hearts as Booker, the plastic factory supervisor on Roseanne, from 1985 – 87, George Clooney starred on The Facts of Life as hunky handyman George Burnett. The kind-hearted star never forgot his humble beginnings and sends Charlotte Rae a sweet taped greeting in which he recalls his favorite backstage memory.
And not to be outdone, get your tissues handy when Todd Bridges stops by Home & Family to surprise his Diff’rent Strokes pal, Kim Fields. The last time the two saw each other was during difficult times — visiting Todd in prison, and at a memorial service for actress Dana Plato. You won’t believe Kim’s shocked look to see her good friend thriving. Todd, who now hosts a live Las Vegas game show, and Kim, who is currently appearing on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, reminisce about a crazy fan.
Gosh, doesn’t everyone look wonderful?!? Which member of The Facts of Life were you? I was totally Jo (Nancy McKeon), the feisty tomboy!
