This episode was another tease. Sure, we finally got a peek at Saúl Guerrero (it’s Lou Diamond Phillips!) and the FBI team moved out beyond the big city. However, the episode ended with so many unanswered questions. Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) was about to get the goods on Daylight, there was no mention of Taylor Shaw or Zapata’s (Audrey Esparza) gambling issues, and Patterson (Ashley Johnson) can’t seem to keep a good man pinned down — why exactly? I guess it’s the mystery that keeps us coming back for more. So are you ready to decipher this week’s episode of Blindspot?

Last week, we were left wondering about the identity of the tree man — you know, the one from the sex dream? How could you forget!?!

In case you did, “Sent on Tour” opens with a big ‘ole shot of that tattoo. The guy it’s attached to is digging some sort of a ditch with another unidentified man. We’re told that the dig actually happened six months ago and the hole was made to bury a big, shiny box. The two cover it up and hope that the right people will find it. Who is that exactly? You will find out, but first we’re getting a different piece of the puzzle.

That Guerrero fellow that Mayfair (Marianne Jean-Baptiste) has been so skittish about? It’s Lou Diamond Phillips! (Sorry, I just needed to say that again.) Mayfair tells Weller that the Guerrero thing is a sensitive matter, but he feels he should be privy to that information, seeing how the case number is tattooed on Jane’s body.

Mayfair crumbles. She tells Weller that Guerrero was an informant for the FBI and she was his handler. The whole thing blew up in their faces, but they couldn’t shut him down. There was a leak somewhere in the ranks and Guerrero disappeared. The whole thing was a major embarrassment. “I can’t have Patterson shaking that tree,” she says.

That’s OK. Patterson has moved onto puzzle-solving, since that’s what she seems to do best. The “turtle shell” we saw from last week is actually a Petoskey stone, which is the official state stone of Michigan. However, one specific piece of the stone is shaped like Alpena County and has an address embedded on it. It seems pretty cut and dry, but it’s in an area could be flooded with militia types and illegal guns. Road trip!

On the Michigan-bound plane, another one of Jane’s secrets is revealed — she’s afraid of flying (my soul sister!). Weller, however, is more interested in the cold case the crew will use as a cover to get into the off-the-grid area. It involves a missing hiker.

On much sturdier ground, the tiny town’s sheriff (Dan Butler, Frasier) isn’t buying the whole story about the crew being there to investigate the hiker. He warns Weller that the people aren’t going to be receptive to the FBI snooping around. Since when has Weller cared about making friends?

As the crew leaves, the sheriff picks up the phone and tells the person on the other end, “We’ve got trouble.”

The FBI arrives at the address listed on Jane’s body. Guerrero is there doing a little light gardening. Weller makes an attempt to arrest him, but it’s not going to be that easy. The militia has been instructed to keep Guerrero safe and in the area. Within seconds, the FBI vehicle has slashed tires and cut fuel lines. Even worse, their bulletproof vests are gone. Maybe next time, they’ll remember to lock up!

Speaking of which: Patterson’s boyfriend, David (Joe Dinicol, Grey’s Anatomy), wants to move in. She’s skeptical, which is understandable. He can’t seem to stay out of her business! All of the information about Jane Doe and her tattoos should be classified, but she’s basically been wallpapering her apartment with the stuff. Now, he’s taking it out of the apartment. What happens if he leaves it on the bus? Drops it in the street? Forgets it at Starbucks?

It doesn’t matter because David has figured out that one of the tattoos is an arch. More specifically, it’s the arch at the Brooklyn Historical Society.

Back in the wilderness, the FBI crew is trying to walk Guerrero out of the area. They don’t get very far before shots ring out. None of the good guys are injured, but reinforcements are on the way. The team realizes that they can’t stay on the main road. Jane points up towards the oil derricks, the same ones that are tattooed on the back of her neck.

Inside the derrick, Jane feels a few funky floorboards. Weller pulls one up and finds the box from the beginning of the episode. It’s not as shiny as it once was. The combination of the lock is “KURT.” Inside, there’s a map, some water, headlamps and a bunch of guns. “It’s our way out,” Jane says.

Not yet, of course. It turns out that Guerrero has a tracking device on him. Before the bad guys can move in, Weller takes the tracker out of the cabin, along with … Zapata. Guerrero gives a devilish grin. Even he knows there’s something going on between Jane and Weller.

While the FBI crew tries to find a way out of the woods, Patterson and David are working on the next puzzle — sort of. Patterson gives David crap about taking the materials outside of the apartment. Um, rightfully so. Of course, the chiding ends pretty quickly when they realize that the numbers on the arch aren’t an address but spell out an ISBN number, specifically for a book titled Faculty Decisions. The same tattoo leads them to specific pages, where they find a bunch of letters circled. Get out your decoder rings, kids!

Meanwhile, Jane, Reade (Rob Brown), and Guerrero are headed towards an old ranger station. Unfortunately, so are the bad guys. Is there another tracker on this guy?

Inside the station, Jane Doe finds a map on the wall and recognizes the topography. She drops her pants and tells Reade to lay the map on the back of her calf. Of course, it’s a match. However, there’s a red X on Jane’s calf that isn’t on the map.

In the woods, Zapata confronts Weller about why he chose her over Jane. She says he’s protecting her. The conversation is short, since the two get ambushed by a bad guy with a big gun. Just one? He gets picked off pretty easily and Weller and Zapata head off to find the rest of the party.

In another part of the woods, Guerrero starts to taunt Jane about Weller. This guy doesn’t know her as well as he thinks he does. Jane responds by introducing the butt of her gun to Guerrero’s face.

Patterson and David are continuing to work in the library, when she decides to access the FBI database remotely. Unfortunately, the screen in her office lets everyone know she’s tapping into government property off-site. Even worse, it lets Mayfair know. She then tracks the couple to their location. How? “I’m FBI,” Mayfair says.

Meanwhile, it turns out that the X on Jane’s leg is marking the spot where there’s a helicopter. However, she and Reade decide to find Weller and Zapata before they make a break for it. That is, if they live through the ambush. Guerrero gets shot, Reade gets shot, and Jane runs out into the line of fire. Just as she goes to reload, Zapata and Weller show up.

Zapata gets disarmed by one of the militia guys, but the sheriff has her back. So he’s sort of a good guy? Not really. He’s just sick of having his people picked off. He informs Guerrero that they aren’t going to help him anymore.

The crew heads to the helicopter and Jane realizes that she’s not so afraid to fly after all. She’s piloting the thing!

Once the crew is off the chopper and back on the plane, Jane tells Weller that she couldn’t stop thinking about him when they were out in the woods. Guerrero wouldn’t let her forget, but that’s a different story.

At the office, Patterson is getting reprimanded by Mayfair, while David is being vetted. “Am I about to be fired?” Patterson asks. Mayfair lets her off the hook, saying this is her one slip-up. As the words leave her lips, the crew walks in, with Guerrero.

The last few minutes of the episode has a lot of confrontations. Patterson gives David the heave-ho, saying she can’t be distracted from her work. She’s like a superhero! Mayfair looks to Guerrero for information, armed with a lengthy list of charges. Of course, he’s not going to budge. Weller doesn’t seem to happy about that meeting — and tells Mayfair that he can tell that her whole story from earlier in the episode was a big, fat lie.

“The truth is called Daylight,” she says. The episode ends right then and there, leaving us hanging once again.

So Weller is about to get some info about Daylight. Will we? Also, the tree man said that Jane was part of the “good” guys. Are those tattoos designed to help the FBI after all? I have to wonder if tree man was the one who assassinated the bearded man. More importantly, I want to know how and when he and Jane were lovers. With there be some sort of a love triangle between tree man, Jane, and Weller? Speaking of which, we had no mention of Taylor Shaw this week. It was all about Guerrero, whom I do hope we see again. More Lou Diamond Phillips, please!
