Returns: Sept. 27 at 8pm ET/PT

Where We Left Off: Season 26 (!) wrapped up. Then came word that Harry Shearer (Mr. Burns, Smithers, Flanders, etc.) was not returning to the voice cast. D’oh!

What To Expect: Woohoo! Shearer isn’t leaving after all! And The Simpsons is renewed through Seasons 27 and 28, though this will evoke a big “meh” from viewers who gave up on it after Season 13. In the Season 27 premiere “Every Man’s Dream,” Homer and Marge have a trial separation and Homer begins dating a 20-something (guest voice Lena Dunham). Also this season Patty and Selma quit smoking; Homer loses $5,000 in a poker game and loans Lisa out to repay the debt; and the Simpsons’ home gets robbed. In “Treehouse of Horror XXVI,” Sideshow Bob (Kelsey Grammer) finally kills Bart; Homer wakes up with short-term memory loss; and Lisa, Bart and Milhouse get super powers from radiation. Kristen Bell, Nick Kroll, Edward James Olmos, Blake Anderson, David Copperfield and Yo-Yo Ma also provide guest voices this season.
