#TCA15: HBO’s “Westworld” looks crazy, good

At the TCA Summer Press Tour, HBO previewed some of its upcoming new and returning programs. Here’s a rundown of the shows and premiere dates:

Back on Board: Greg Louganis (Aug. 4) Four-time Olympic gold medalist Greg Louganis may be the greatest diver ever, but his greatest impact may come from being one of the first openly gay athletes in America. This documentary looks at the successes and struggles Louganis faced then and still faces now.

Show Me a Hero (Aug. 16, 23 & 30) This miniseries dramatizes the bureaucratic battle that took place in Yonkers, N.Y., over the building of low-income housing units in the predominantly white neighborhoods. Oscar Isaac, Alfred Molina and Catherine Keener star.

Ferrell Takes the Field (Sept. 12) This documentary special follows Will Ferrell as he plays all nine positions on the field for 10 different Major League Baseball teams during one day in Spring Training.

The Leftovers Season 2 (Oct. 4) The continuation of Damon Lindeloff’s drama about a small Texas town that was spared when 2 percent of the world’s population inexplicably vanished.

Amy Schumer: Live From the Apollo (Oct. 17) Comedian Amy Schumer performs in this one-hour special taped May 29 at New York’s Apollo Theater. Chris Rock directs.

Vinyl (2016) Martin Scorsese, Mick Jagger and Terence Winter present this drama series about the music industry in 1970s New York at the dawn of disco, punk and hip-hop. Bobby Cannavale plays a record company president trying to save his business.

Westworld (2016) HBO showed an extended trailer for one-hour sci-fi fantasy drama series Westworld, inspired by the 1973 film of the same name, about “the dawn of artificial intelligence and the future of sin.” Stars Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, and Jeffrey Wright. Created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy.

Banshee final season (Jan. 2016)

Outcast (2016) A drama about a young man, Kyle, who has been plagued by demonic possession all his life. With the help of a preacher, Kyle embarks on a journey to rediscover the life he lost.

Quarry (2016) A drama about a Marine who returns from Vietnam in 1972 and finds himself shunned by his family and his hometown, which leads him into a vast network of killing and corruption.
