New “Haunting Hour” episode features “Homeland” star Jackson Pace

Jackson Pace has had a lot of great experiences starring in the hit Showtime drama Homeland, where he plays Chris Brody, the son of returned soldier Nicholas Brody. But something he hadn’t done yet was leave the United States. That changed with his assignment for R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour, which filmed its latest episode, “Toy Train,” airing this Saturday at 7:30pm ET, in Vancouver.

“Canada is such a beautiful place,” Pace says. “On my day off I had the chance to zipline at Grouse Mountain. The location we shot at was literally on the border. If you were allowed to cross the street, you would be in the U.S.”

In “Toy Train,” Jackson plays Logan, who comes upon a mysterious old train set while helping his father (Aaron Pearl) clean out his grandfather’s house. Then suddenly a real train starts running in town even though it supposedly has not been operational in 20 years. Out by the train, Jackson meets another young man, Hank (Liam Dickinson), and that’s where things really get weird. It all has to do with some ghosts from the past and revisiting past traumas that never go away.

Jackson is complimentary about the intricate model train built for the episode, but claims that his own knowledge of trains “started and ended with Thomas” [the Tank Engine]. What was more enjoyable for him was getting to work with another young actor like Dickinson, since most of his jobs tend to be in projects that aren’t so kid-friendly. Plus, he got to finally experience working on a show that many of his friends had raved about.

“Everyone I know has loved working on it,” he says. “It’s a very friendly, kid-oriented set. I loved it! It was a great crew and cast, and it’s great to do something that kids watch.”

R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour airs Saturdays at 7:30pm on The Hub Network. Also, don’t miss Jackson Pace on the season finale of Homeland at 9pm Sunday on Showtime.
