Labor Day 2013 in the United States is Monday, Sept. 2. Over the weekend leading up to the holiday, and including the day itself, TV networks are once again giving viewers lucky enough to be able to have some time off to relax the opportunity to enjoy movies, sports and marathons of popular TV shows. Star Trek: The Next Generation Season 6 marathon — Aug. 30 from 6pm-6am on BBC America.
America’s Supernanny — Aug. 30 from 6pm-4am on BIO Channel.
Hillbilly Handfishin’ Season 2 marathon — Aug. 30 from 7pm-6am on Animal Planet.
Alaskan Steel Men — Aug. 30 at 10pm on Discovery Channel. This new series follows master welder Dennis Butts and his crew, who have one of the most the dangerous welding jobs anywhere. The show follows the emergency response welders of Quality Marine of Alaska, who work around the clock to prepare Kodiak’s fleet for a new fishing season.
College Football: Texas Tech at SMU — Aug. 30 live at 8pm on ESPN.
Yo! MTV Raps marathon — Aug. 31 beginning at 6am on MTV Jams. MTV Jams features a three-day marathon celebrating MTV’s iconic music series Yo! MTV Raps (1988-95). The weekend will include a new countdown of the 100 most-played music videos from that era, and feature retro favorites from artists such as Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, LL Cool J, 2 Pac, N.W.A. and more.
Top Gear marathon — Aug. 31 from 7am-6pm on History.
The Game marathon — Aug. 31 from 8am-6pm on BET.
College GameDay — Aug. 31 at 9am on ESPN. College football kicks off its season this weekend, and ESPN’s flagship college football show airs four hours from the campus of Clemson University, leading into ESPN’s 1pm coverage of Rice at Texas A&M game.

This is the network television premiere of the feature film in which Twilight Sparkle’s crown is stolen from the Crystal Empire, and she must pursue the thief into an alternate world where she transforms into a teenage girl. With help from her new friends, who remind her of Ponyville’s Applejack, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy, she embarks upon a quest to find the crown and change the destiny of these two parallel worlds.

Mermaids: The Body Found and Mermaids: The New Evidence encore presentations — Sept. 1 at 8pm and 10pm on Animal Planet. Animal Planet re-airs two of its most successful “mockumentaries” that posit the existence of mermaids.
MDA Show of Strength Telethon — Sept. 1 at 9pm on ABC. The Muscular Dystrophy Association’s nationally broadcast telethon, one of America’s longest-standing fundraising and entertainment events, returns this Labor Day weekend with a new broadcast home. This is the first time in its 48-year history that the telethon will be broadcast on a single television network. It will air for two hours in primetime on ABC stations across the country.
Deadline Crime With Tamron Hall — Sept. 1 at 9pm on Investigation Discovery. MSNBC host and NBC News correspondent/anchor Tamron Hall hosts this new, weekly investigative magazine series.
TV’s Funniest of the Funniest: A Paley Center for Media Special — Sept. 1 at 9pm on NBC. Betty White hosts this tribute to the top laugh-out-loud scenes from the greatest television shows of yesterday and today.
Ghost Mine catch-up marathon — Sept. 1 from 10pm-4am on Syfy. Season 2 of Ghost Mine premieres Sept. 4, and this is a marathon of Season 1 to catch viewers up.

Parks and Recreation Treat Yo’ Self Premiere Marathon — Sept. 2 from 7am-midnight on FXX. The new FXX network kicks off with 18 hours of the hit comedy series starring Amy Poehler, starting with the series’ pilot episode at 7am.

College Football: Florida State at Pitt — Sept. 2 live at 8pm on ESPN.
Call of the Wildman: “Viva Live Action!” — Sept. 2 at 10pm on Animal Planet. In this one-hour special episode of Call of the Wildman, Turtleman and Neal head to Mexico for the first international animal rescue for Team Turtle.
The Comedy Central Roast of James Franco — Sept. 2 at 10pm on Comedy Central. Actor James Franco is the latest to get slammed at Comedy Central’s famed event. Seth Rogen will serve as Roast Master, joined by Roasters Bill Hader, Jonah Hill, Nick Kroll, Natasha Leggero, Jeff Ross, Sarah Silverman, Aziz Ansari and Andy Samberg.
