On Demand DVD New Releases June 10-16. Updated fairy tales (Oz the Great and Powerful, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters) might make for an interesting double feature, though the latter is not rated for children, to be certain. And while no other title can boast quite the cast that Movie 43 does, some of this week’s other premieres do offer some familiar faces, including: Claire Danes and James Mardsen (As Cool as I Am); Cuba Gooding Jr. (Absolute Deception); Claire Bowen (Dead Man’s Burden); Benjamin Bratt, Dwayne Johnson and Susan Sarandon, (Snitch) and Bruce Dern and Val Kilmer (Twixt).

As Cool As I Am A smart teenage girl comes of age in a small town, along with her self-centered parents who had her when they were teenagers. Claire Danes, James Marsden (R) 6/10 

Premiering 6/11:

Absolute Deception Cuba Gooding Jr. stars as an FBI agent who teams up with the wife of his slain informant to find out the truth about the man’s murder. Also stars Emmanuelle Vaugier, Evert McQueen (R, 1:32)

Dead Man’s Burden A Western set on the New Mexico frontier a few years after the Civil War, this story is centered on a struggling young family and the mining company who wants to buy their land. Barlow Jacobs, Claire Bowen (TV-14, 1:33) (same day as DVD, weeks before Netflix & Redbox),

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters (3-D) This twist on the classic fairy tale casts the main characters as bounty hunters who track down and kill witches. Jeremy Renner, Gemma Arterton, Famke Janssen (R, 1:28)

Oz the Great and Powerful (3-D) Sam Raimi (Spider-Man) directs this color-splashed Wizard of Oz prequel that tells the story of how a small-time magician (James Franco) is swept away into the fabled land where he becomes embroiled in a power struggle between three witches. Also stars Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams (PG, 2:10)

Snitch To clear his son of drug charges, a father goes undercover for the DEA to help infiltrate a dangerous drug cartel. Dwayne Johnson, Susan Sarandon, Benjamin Bratt (PG-13, 1:52)

Twixt A writer with a declining career arrives in a small town as part of his book tour and gets caught up in a murder mystery involving a young girl. That night in a dream, he is approached by a mysterious young ghost named V. He’s unsure of her connection to the murder in the town, but is grateful for the story being handed to him. Ultimately he is led to the truth of the story, surprised to find that the ending has more to do with his own life than he could ever have anticipated. Val Kilmer, Bruce Dern, Elle Fanning (R,1:28) (weeks before DVD, Netflix & Redbox),
