  1. Players often ask officials to define their permissable drop locations. Once an official gives the direction the player is protected from penalty, even if the official was incorrect. Here, before the end of the round the Masters Committee ruled that Woods had not committed an infraction and allowed Tiger to complete his round and sign his card w/o saying a word. Even if the Committee was wrong when it initially decided that ends the discussion.

    Bob in Michigan

    • Further support for Tiger comes from the US Open a few years back when the leader unknowingly grounded his club in a sand trap. There, the rules committee saw it and called the player in to show and explain what happend while play was still going on. Otherwise, he would have been DQ’d if he signed a score card w/o the penalty strokes. Once the Rules Committee ruled – they don’t get to reverse their ruling later. There is no rule in golf that allows a ruling to be reversed after the close of a round. Tiger should play.

      • And, Tiger should play without any penalty strokes as the Committee initially ruled (right or wrong) there was no penalty.

  2. Please, can we get back to tournament play. It does look like Tiger dropped his ball within 1 club length, no closer to the hole and that meets my definition of close to the original shot.

Now let’s drop the TV coverage of this issue and get back to following the play of the tournament.

  3. I am not a Tiger fan, but if anyone is assessed a penalty after the round of golf is over, without notification by an official and based on TV Coverage, then every shot of every player in the field should be recorded and analyzed as well.

  4. get over tigers past and let the man get on with playing golf/for branndel chamblie he is racist asshole and should never be on any live program ever again.

  5. As a 66-year-old man, I remember my dad telling me that golf is a gentleman’s game and if you don’t want to play it that way, take up hockey. Now we have rules for some and rules for others. Nick, you are right! Tiger should withdraw. Fred thinks that if you don’t know the rules, you should be forgiven. Best never to read a rule book under that scenario. If there is no disqualification, you might as well change the the name from PGA to NASCAR.

  6. BRENDEN CHAMBLEE IS AN EMBRASSMENT TO YOUR CHANEL. THIS MAN IS SO ENVIOUS OF TIGER WOODS THAT IT FLABBERGASTS THE MIND THAT YOU CONTINUE TO FEATURE HIM AS AN ANYLIST ON YOUR TELECASTS. THIS MAN WOULD DO ANY THING WITHIN HIS POWER PROTECT JACK NICKLUS MAJORS RECORD. HE ATTEMPTS TO SMEAR TIGER AT EVERY TURN WHILE GLORIFING THE FLAWS OF PHIL MICKLESON ETC… IS CHAMBLEE A CLOSET RASIST? OR JUST A TIGER HATER?

  7. Penalty on Tiger is a joke, there are trying anything to try to see he doesnt win

  8. Woods should be DQ’ed ,anybody else would be, its because hes BLACK. Thats RACEST ! Get hime off the corse.

  9. Why does a grown man wear a pair of hoop earrings, particularly at the Masters, where tradion is everything? Someone please tell him he looks like a complete IDOT!

  10. Stop the bull **** and let us watch the live game. The commentary is BORING and I did not tune into the gold channel to listen to someone talk bout the game, I tuned in to watch the game. So when ESN has the game on in the afternoon I watch ESN. Your channel is a major disappointment in this coverage.

  11. WHen is there actual live coverage of the PLAY during Thur & Friday?
All I am getting are some boring talking heads with phony ‘backgrounds’ through some fake studio windows chatting about nothing.
Is this all that’s on the golf channel during the weekday coverage? this is so lame.
guess i’ll have to wait for Sat/Sun network coverage.
And, the golfchannel.com website doesn’t SPECIFICALLY say what it means by “LIVE FROM THE MASTERS”. OBVIOUSLY NOT LIVE PLAY.

  12. Stop the talking you have major players on the course lets see them. LIVE does mean that we should be seeing something . NOT listening to what’s happening or watching practice swings. what’s up???!!!

  13. I agree Kerry & John, WHERE IS THE LIVE GOLF that we are lead to believe we where going to see. I watch the Golf Channel religiously. But I am VERY DISSAPOINTED with the Masters coverage!!!!!

  14. It is absurd to call the golf channel’s coverage “golf”. It is about talking heads sitting around talking golf and occasionally showing the leader board. People expect to see live golf and get nothing. I don’t know who controls how much live golf is shown and by whom, but I am heading to the workshop to do something real rather than waste time listening to a bunch of old guys sitting around in suits and ties talking.
I suspect that most of America’s golf lovers are disappointed. And honestly, I think it detracts from the sport and from the Masters Tournament. Many people who would be your audience will go find something else to do and forget to come back.

  15. Augusta has crazy restrictions on how many hours of live TV coverage it allows. Only 10 years ago, they prohibited TV camera’s on the front 9. They want to make it seem exclusive and a privilege to see their course and their tournament. Showing their ignorance once again.

  16. I enjoy watching the golf channel. Very relaxing. I am however; perplexed. Are you covering The Masters play live, before ESPN takes over at 3pm ET? If you are congratulations. If not, why? Would you not agree that one would be mystified, by The Golf Channel not showing the golf. Who is controlling this coverage? If all I can watch is the hype, and not the golf, I don’t see the point of paying for the Golf Channel.

    • I totally agree with Kerry… i want to see live golf … not the commentators, could we have LIVE golf, after all,it IS the golf channel

  17. Golf Channel has lots of news, analysis and other coverage of The Masters, but no live tournament play. ESPN and CBS have exclusive broadcast rights. Augusta National tightly controls how many hours are broadcast (they don’t want you to see too much, because that somehow makes the tournament less prestigious).
