Two-time Olympic women’s beach volleyball gold medalists Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh Jennings are aiming for their third straight Olympic gold medal, but to get it, they’ll need to beat their Team USA compatriots Jen Kessy and April Ross in the gold-medal final Wednesday night on NBC. May-Treanor and Walsh Jennings needed comeback wins in both sets to beat China’s Xi Zhang and Chen Xue Tuesday to advance to the final. It’s also the final match that May-Treanor and Walsh Jennings will play together. Kessy and Ross may pose a big challenge. They defeated Brazil’s Juliana Silva and Larissa Franca, the No. 1 seed and reigning world champion duo, to reach the final.
