Where to watch the 2012 Indy 500

TV network and schedule for the 2012 Indy 500 on Sunday, May 27.

The Memorial Day weekend tradition returns with the 96th running of the Indianapolis 500 from famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday, May 27. Hearts will be heavy at Indy, as 2011 race winner Dan Wheldon (pictured), who died in a crash in IndyCar’s season finale last fall, will be fondly remembered by the racing world. Top drivers competing this year for the Borg-Warner Trophy include Will Power, Ryan Briscoe, Scott Dixon, Helio Castroneves, Graham Rahal, Marco Andretti and Dario Franchitti. Briscoe starts the race in the pole position.

ABC will televise the Indianapolis 500 for the 48th straight year. Coverage starts at 11am ET with a one-hour preview show. The race telecast begins at 12pm ET, with the green flag scheduled for 12:12pm ET. For the first time, viewers will be able to view live streaming video from their choice of in-car cameras on ESPN3.com. The TV production will use more than 80 cameras, including installing four onboard cameras on nine of the cars in the race, and the “Batcam” cable camera hovering over pit road.

Brent Musburger hosts ABC’s Indianapolis 500 telecast. Marty Reid calls the race with analysts Scott Goodyear and Eddie Cheever. Rick DeBruhl, Jamie Little, Dr. Jerry Punch and Vince Welch report from the pits.
