Universal Sports Network has live and taped coverage of cycling’s Giro d’Italia (Tour of Italy) May 5-27, with coverage of all 21 stages. The Giro is one of cycling’s three Grand Tour races, along with the Tour de France and the Vuelta a España. Many look at the Giro as a preview to the Tour de France and as a barometer for Le Tour’s top contenders. The Giro began in Herning, Denmark, on May 5 and then travels from Verona south to Lago Laceno. The route heads back northward along the western coast of Italy, up through several mountain stages in northern Italy, and ends in Milan May 27. Alberto Contador won the 2011 race but was stripped of the title and banned for two years for doping. His title went to Michele Scarponi.
Universal Sports Network airs live and taped coverage throughout the Giro. Viewers without Universal Sports can also watch live and on demand coverage of the Giro on universalsports.com.
