TLC clones its hit “I Cloned My Pet” special (video)

TLC is following up a special it aired earlier this year called I Cloned My Pet with a second hour, containing three new pet-cloning stories, to air May 21 at 10pm ET/PT.

Featured in this new special are:

* Beverly Hills cosmetic surgeon George Semel, who has decided to do whatever it takes to bring his beloved Chihuahua named Bob back to life. Bob was attacked and killed by a Rottweiler in the summer of 2011 after two and a half years with Semel, who first met the canine when it was malnourished and needed help.

* Los Angelino Myra, who still struggles with the loss of her dog Kabuki, who passed away three years ago. Myra has managed to save almost half of the money she needs to clone Kabuki, but cost is no longer the only obstacle. Myra now has a boyfriend in her life, and knowing that a cloned Kabuki would be her top priority, Myra has to make the tough decision between human love and cloned love.

* Edgar and Nina Otto (see video below) of Boca Raton, Florida, are wealthy enough to lavish money on their greatest passion, animals. The best pet they ever had was a golden lab named Sir Lancelot. In 2003, the Ottos had a sample of his DNA taken and stored. At that time, a dog had never been successfully cloned, but Edgar and Nina hoped that one day it would be possible. In November 2008, after Lancelot’s passing from cancer, they were one of the first families to be able to produce a successful clone for the hefty price tag of $155,000.

The new installment of I Cloned My Pet premieres May 21 at 10pm ET/PT on TLC.
