ORLANDO, Fla. (Feb. 22, 2011) – Golf Channel’s hit original series The Haney Project returns for an all-new season and celebrity line-up Monday, Feb. 27 at 9 p.m. ET, when renowned instructor Hank Haney meets all four of his new celebrity students and witnesses their golf swings for the first time. The Haney Project will precede a new season of Feherty (10 p.m. ET) to form a potent, Monday primetime lineup on Golf Channel.

The celebrity “projects” include Grammy Award-winning Maroon 5 front man and mentor on NBC’s The Voice Adam Levine, legendary boxer Sugar Ray Leonard, acclaimed chef Mario Batali and former supermodel Angie Everhart. The eight-part series will follow them through the trials and tribulations of becoming the next great celebrity golfer under the guidance of Tiger Woods’ former coach. The foursome will eventually compete against each other in an ultimate showdown in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, for the chance to win $100,000 for the charity of his or her choice.

In the premiere episode, Haney preps for his first meeting with the four celebrities by receiving some advice from family and friends, including famed boxer Oscar De La Hoya, Iron Chef Michael Symon, Willie Nash – son of Rock and Roll Hall-of-Famer Graham Nash – and Angie’s father, Bobby Everhart.

When Haney travels to meet his new projects at a Beverly Hills mansion, one of the four misses the meeting that includes a golf “intervention” and a Haney challenge: net and clubs waiting in the backyard so that he can witness the swings in person for the first time. One project is nervous; another is forced to quit after destroying a hitting mat; and Leonard sends an early message by “punching” one of his fellow competitors. Goals are set, but Haney has concerns about whether or not all four projects are willing to put in the necessary work.

The Haney Project has been a critical and ratings success for Golf Channel. The first season, which starred Charles Barkley, marked the highest-rated launch of an original series at that time. Subsequent seasons featured actor Ray Romano and conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh.

The Haney Project also complements Golf Channel’s exciting slate of instructional and informational programming, including The Golf Fix, School of Golf, On the Range and Golf Channel Academy, featuring golf greats Greg Norman and Annika Sorenstam. The series is produced by Golf Channel in conjunction with The WorkShop, LLC, an independent multi-media production company based in Bryn Mawr, Penn.
