E! Entertainment announced the airing of an intimate special with some of Hollywood’s top talent in The Hollywood Reporter Presents: Actors Unscripted, a half-hour special airing this Friday, February 24 at 8:00 PM ET/PT. It’s a joint project between E! and The Hollywood Reporter.
George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Charlize Theron, Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer are just a few of the stars featured in round-table interviews where they discuss their innermost thoughts on their craft, as well as the highs and lows of their careers.
Highlights from the show include:
>> George Clooney: “I remember I was selling women’s shoes at a department store, which is a lousy job… it was 80-year old women like, ‘that’s a hammertoe.’ You’re like ‘I don’t want to see that.’ Acting is not hard work. I cut tobacco for a living in Kentucky. That’s hard work.”
Michelle Williams: “I have worked with a few actors recently who go up to the monitor in-between takes and they watch what they do and then they go back in and tinker with their performance. I thought ‘I’m gonna try that,’ – I ran screaming away from that monitor.”
>> Brad Pitt: “This movie [Moneyball] died on the vine so many times. I ended up asking a lot of people to do me this solid and come into this thing. People put their jobs on the line and there was a wee bit of pressure to get it right. I am so happy that the movie has come together. That is a great experience – when you put that much into something and know it’s going to say something and continue to say something in 10 years, 20 years.”
>> Viola Davis: “With every role I have learned something, even the failures. I really love what I do. It is why I do it. A lot of people can’t say that.”
Charlize Theron: “Sometimes the surprise is the thing you think would be the hardest is sometimes the easiest. Like, the idea of somebody saying, ‘take your clothes off’ was a little frightening – and then I did it and I was like, ‘oh, okay.’”
>> Octavia Spencer: “I’m glad that I had little opportunities that led to bigger things. And you know, the fact that I am sitting in this room with people that inspire me every day… a year ago I would just been watching, you know it’s wonderful.”
