Nickelodeon Unifies Its Branding, Kids!

by Karl J. Paloucek

Hey, kids! Literally — all of you Nickelodeon fans, listen up.

As it enters its 30th year devoted to bringing programming for kids, Nickelodeon is making a few bold moves and changes to its brand. Namely, first of all, the brand is re-christening some of its networks and website offshoots to bring all of them more firmly under the Nickelodeon umbrella. Here’s how it’s all gonna go down:

Noggin will become Nick Jr: The preschool set need not fear, their wee li’l shows are staying put. Only the name will change.

The N will become TEENick: Still focusing on the kids in the difficult preteen and teen years, TEENick will continue to reflect the turbulent emotional and social complexity of the adolescent experience.

Nicktoons Network — you’ll notice it already has a “Nick” name — remains unchanged in identity and mission, bringing animated action like Avatar: The Last Airbender, Wolverine and the X-Men and the forthcoming Iron Man series.

On the Internet, popular kid-friendly Nickelodeon sites like NeoPets.com, AddictingGames.com and Shockwave.com will feature an increased Nickelodeon branding presence that should reassure parents and kids alike. In addition, Noggin.com will be “folded” into the number one preschool and parenting website, NickJr.com. Likewise, TEENick.com (formerly The-N.com) will serve as the online interface for TEENick, offering a place for teens to find more video, in addition to chat boards and to generally connect with the TEENick experience.

Much like its network sibling, Nicktoons.com will remain relatively unchanged, offering its usual full complement of videos, games and other online fun.

And finally, moms and dads, Nickelodeon’s ParentsConnect.com will be there to help you as an online resource for advice, information and support with the most difficult job in the world — raising kids. As always, Nickelodeon is here to help.
