Big Brother 10: Episode 10 Recap

Posted by johnnysweeptheleg

If you remember, the houseguests have been hanging off a building since Thursday. Sadly, there is no Kim Wilde “Keep Me Hanging On” playing in the background. But there is Jessie passing the time by explaining to his fellow houseguests exactly which muscles they are using in this competition. Ironically, he neglects to mention the jaw muscle.

Jerry and Libra fall out fairly early. Dan continues with his “look weak” strategy and drops. But Libra observes in her D.R. session that it appears he is throwing competitions. Be careful, Dan. Sadly for Jessie, he falls, and can’t blame it on throwing the competition. The simple fact remains that Renny, the oldest woman in the house, is able to outlast the bodybuilder in an endurance competition. However, we quickly learn why Jessie fell. Because the competition is bogus. Why? Because Jessie says so.

Ultimately, though, the event is a monumental one. It isn’t just an endurance competition for the houseguests. It’s an endurance competition for the viewers. How long can we sit there watching people stand on this faux-ledge before we want to flip the channel? What, there are Greatest American Hero re-runs on cable? Must … resist … urge …

With Renny, Michelle and April the last ones competing, Dan takes the opportunity to offer each HG a motivational speech. As a high school football coach, he’s used to giving speeches. But unless he coaches the team from the made-for-TV movie Backfield in Motion, something tells me he’s never had to tailor a speech to this kind of crew, before. He’s a funny guy. And the speeches are enough to keep me from changing the channel. Sadly, we don’t get the movie cliche slow-clap afterward.

After Renny accidentally falls, Michelle sees that there’s no way she can outlast April in this comp. She begins cutting deals and both promises and swears that she will not nominate Michelle nor put her up as a POV replacement. April even agrees to keep Jessie safe. After 2 hours and 40 minutes, Michelle finally drops, giving April the Head of Household.

April wastes no time letting the power go to her head. At the first signs of Keesha and Memphis hanging out, April begins openly discussing turning on her ally. Little does she know that Renny and Keesha are tight, so Renny runs to Keesha and gives her the heads-up.

As his first act being America’s Player, Dan learns he must try to get Jessie nominated. As inexplicably as Jessie tearing his shirt off in the middle of an earthquake, Dan dons sunglasses inside the BB house, as he is about to talk to April about nominating Jessie. Afterward, April tells the others about this encounter and how weirdly it came off. The way he was acting prompts April to mention that maybe he’s the twist, and that he’s America’s Player. How the hell she connected those dots right away, I don’t know. But Danny Boy better watch himself from here on out.

However, his chat must have done some good. Because at the nomination ceremony, despite promising Michelle to keep Jessie safe, April nominates Jessie alongside Memphis. Everyone is fully aware that Memphis is the real target, but how long is it until the pawn goes home, like in prior seasons?

For purely selfish reasons, I hope Jessie stays, otherwise this writer is going to run out of material very quickly.
