Where We Left Off: In the chilling finale of a season which earned 8 Emmy nominations, Dexter (Michael C. Hall) was just settling into married life and fatherhood when Trinity (John Lithgow) left him a widower.
What to Expect: With two older children and a baby to care for, will there be any time for Dexter to appease his Dark Passenger’s urges to hunt and kill? Perhaps the new nanny, played by Maria Doyle Kennedy (Henry VIII’s first wife on The Tudors), can lift some of his responsibilities on the home front, but after what he witnessed in last season’s shocking finale, it may be harder for our lovable serial killer to pick up his knife. Plus, there’s his guilt at knowing that he was not able to protect Rita and the fact that he is considered a suspect in her death. Also joining the cast are Peter Weller, Jonny Lee Miller and Julia Stiles. And Julie Benz also returns early in the season to help Dexter deal with unfamiliar emotions her murder raises in him.
