Perhaps gross food isn’t enough for Mr. Zimmern. In this new series, he seeks an even larger world of bizarre things, including underground cultures, outrageous customs, ceremonies, etiquette and rituals. With shows like Taboo, Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations and Zimmern’s own Bizarre Foods succeeding with viewers, it looks like the appetite is there for more shows such as this. How long you can maintain your actual appetite after watching, though, is another question.
Things get off to a wild start in episode one, which finds Zimmern in Cuba participating in a Santeria ritual that leaves him covered in blood, devouring large tree rats and discovering how to grow world-class tobacco.
